It's summer, and time to take advantage of the balmy weather by spending as much time as possible outdoors. What could be more enjoyable than attending a street fair? Athens, N.Y. is a charming little village on the banks of the Hudson River, and Saturday they will be hosting their annual Athens Street Festival

Award-winning artist Paul from Kmiotek Art Works, will be there with his original art and note cards depicting landscapes and animals based on his pen and ink drawings. Make sure you stop by to say hello while enjoying the festivities. You can view the Athens lighthouse, and then purchase these beautiful note cards from Paul as a memento of your visit.

Two Summer Markets To Explore

The upcoming first weekend of Summer offers two opportunities to find our makers in New York and New Jersey.

If you like the outdoors, you'll love The Summer Market, down at the waterfront in Hudson, N.Y. This is the forth year for this large market featuring vendors, vintage goods, music and food. The park is right on the river, with plenty of easy parking.  Two of our very active makers will be there. Paul, of KmiotekArtWorks, will be bringing his note cards and art work based on his original pen and ink drawings. Sarah, of  SO Handmade, will also be there with her unique assortment of products for children and the home.

 On Sunday only, in Ramsey, N.J. you can meet Devon, of Gourdament, at the Shady Grove Arts and Crafts Show. The event takes place at the Adorno Fathers' Seminary on their lush and beautiful grounds. Devon is an award-winning artist who creates one-of-a-kind hand painted pieces for the home and garden.  So, with a bit of planning, you will be able to treat yourself to an art-full weekend, enjoying the early summer sunshine, breezes, and shade. This weekend five of our members will be out enjoying the lovely late spring weather at three Hudson Valley events. On Main Street, Fishkill, N.Y.three members will be participating in a long-established show, The 23rd Annual Fine Art and Craft Fair.  Look for JoAnn of Lollypups Designer Pet Wear, Hester, of Hester's Studio, along with Paul, of Kmiotek Art Works.

Where To Find Makers-On-Hudson This Weekend

We're holding our breath here in the Hudson Valley, but we think Spring has finally arrived. Lilacs and dogwoods are just about to bloom, and our makers will be venturing out to several events this weekend.

Kathryn, from Huzzah! Unique Handmade Wearables will be at the Chancellor's Sheep and Wool Showcase at the Cleremont Historic Estate this Saturday (please note, rain date is Sunday 4/24. Check the website if you are in doubt.) You'll enjoy this wonderful event, with lots of activities and many talented artists selling their locally handmade items.

Also, on Saturday, cross the Hudson and you'll find two of our makers attending the Mama Makers Market. on Main Street, High Falls, N.Y. Hester, of HestersStudio and Sarah from SOHandmade will be there, so stop by and say hello. High Falls is such a quaint little town, and a fun place to visit.

Back in Dutchess County, at Dutchess Handmade, Paul from  Kmiotek Art Works will be participating in a pop-up shop starting April 21. The shop will be open until May 12, so you'll have many opportunities to browse the selection of work  throughout the Spring.

Where To Find Hudson Valley Etsy This Weekend

Made + Collected + Rescued 

This weekend, our members will be traveling far and wide to participate in some very diverse events: from the shores of the Hudson to the Garden State of New Jersey. One of our newest members, Paul of KmiotekArtWorks, will be trekking to Hudson, N.Y. on Saturday and Sunday to participate in the Hudson Exchange, Made + Collected.

It's quite possible that you'll pass by some of the iconic Hudson Valley scenery that Paul so beautifully captures in his drawings on your way to the riverfront park to meet him in person.

You will also want to find Hester, of HestersStudio. Hester's been busy this summer and the Hudson Exchange is just one place where you can find her lovely, hand-built ceramics and sculpture.

On Sunday, JoAnn heads to New Jersey for The 11th Hour Rescue Event in Stanhope, from 11-5. Who wouldn't fall in love with the beautiful, adoptable best friends at these events?
